barcelona! the ultimate aero test for formula one

catalunya.gif

this weekend’s formula one grand prix could be the first wet race of the season. and it’ll be challenging as the traction control is no longer legal to those fast machines.

barcelona is a very ‘technical’ track, sophisticated. having so many long high speed corners, barcelona demands a perfect aero package as horse power is not as important as in monza. aerodynamics is the key factor. will ferrari’s ventilated nose be the winning innovation?

track surface on those fast sweeping corners are fairly abbrasive, thus harder compound should be the prime choice, and medium compound as option tyre. suspension set up is not a simple thing in barcelona. stiffer front should provide a better handling on high speed corners, but softer rear is needed to get the best possible traction out of slower corners. this, will be the vital set up since traction control is no longer available and predicted rainfall on saturday and sunday. i’m looking forward to see how massa deal with such challenge! it will be interesting.

barcelona is a very ‘technical’ track. the winner of this grand prix is likely to be the winner of the whole season.
